Gear Up For Red Sox Baseball

Sox vs the A’s Team: Part the First

athleticsI was hoping for a decent game tonight with the Sox going up against the Oakland Athletics tonight in Oakland. Instead, I got the following:

• Whenever Pedroia comes to the plate, I believe the Red Sox could over come a 10 run deficit in the ninth inning if they had to.

• The opposite happens whenever the camera cuts to Dice-K moping in the dug out. When I see his zero intensity face, I think we’d have a hard time beating most decent college teams this season.

• Youkilis is a hitting beast so far this season. He’s averaged .577 coming into the game tonight.

• Unfortunately, he’s the only one. Everybody looks lifeless and deflated at the plate. Medium Papi, despite the weight loss, looks like he’s dreaming of his next off season in DR, and more or less swatting. He had a single tonight, and I caught myself being shocked that he had a base hit.

• I also realize I’m being overly critical for only the 7th game of the season. I’m not even close to nervous yet. There will be some moment, some crazy Papelbon save, or some insanely, ridiculously unexpected ‘Tek homer in a clutch moment that will jump start the season. But if we lose tonight (and we will) we’ll be 2-5. Granted, the Nationals are 0-7 right now, but that’s almost comparable. I’ll be worried next week.

• Lester looked damned shaky. And Dice up tomorrow night. That makes my ball bag ache.

• We’re stranding too many guys. 10 in the game against the Angels on Sunday. Its not that the guys aren’t hitting. . . but that they’re not hitting when they need to. This should officially be called A-Rod Syndrome.

• For all our great pitching, every single starting pitcher has taken a loss. And Lester will be 0-2 after tonight.

• Oh good, JD Drew is up in the ninth and we’re down 8-2. This could be that turn around moment. . . aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand. . . Drew grounds out.

• Jerry Remy is talking about the shitty bats. He’s trying to put a good face on it. God bless him, he knows he can’t do it.

• Bay at the plate. . . full count in the bottom of the ninth, 2 outs. . . grounds out.

On to Dice tomorrow. . . I’m going need every ounce of patience I have to keep from punching the screen.

Sayonara!!!
