Dustin Wins AL MVP
This is old news today, but it was old news for Red Sox fans before the voting started. Fenway has been chanting “M-V-P” since Pedroia took over batting clean up earlier in the season. I thought it was a mistake to remove him from the #4 spot. . . he did a great job batting after Ortiz, and with everything he did all season: . 326 Batting Average, 213 hits, 118 runs, 54 doubles, 17 home runs, 20 stolen bases, a Golden Glove, AND an incredible ability to smack talk. The guy is an insane player, perfect for Fenway, and followed up his 2007 Rookie of the Year title with an MVP season. Its ridiculous to think about what this guy will do in his career.
I also found this exclusive video of Dustin celebrating his MVP win. I still like him.
Coco Crisp Traded to KC Royals for Ramon Ramirez
Good Trade! We desperately need depth in the bullpen and Ramirez brings solid numbers: 3-2 with a 2.64 ERA in 71 games in 2008. He registered 70 strikeouts in 71 2/3 innings.
Removing Coco from the outfield also frees up the “4th Outfielder” position we needed, potentially, to go after Texeira. But this has to be an incredibly demoralizing move for Crisp. He is going from an intense playoff contending team to a team that lives in its mother’s basement. And here’s what I love about the writing on any MLB site. . . everything is GREAT:
Even though it meant going from playoff team to a fourth-place team, Crisp saw the deal as a plus. – From RedSox.com
What the hell is that? Its like some double talking corporate middle manager giving you his mealy mouthed spin on why a pay cut was a good idea.
Best of luck Coco!
Red Sox Will Spend All Their Beer Money Trying To Get Texeira
Si.com is opining that Texeira will get an insane contract off from Boston. We need one more big bat to compete in the AL East, and I hope Tex is it, but I’m not sure. The guy is a good hitter, but I don’t know if he’s a great hitter. But believe in Theo. . . we’ll see.
